Steve Wynn knows how to open a hotel, a resort and a casino. He has been responsible for creating some of the most well know and respected hotels in Las Vegas. The Mirage was the first hotel he built from the ground up. The success of The Mirage was followed by Treasure Island and then the award winning Bellagio debuted in 1998. But there is always room for improvement so Steve Wynn continued his winning streak and created the incredible Wynn Las Vegas.

Wynn Las Vegas is unique is almost every way. From the architectural design of the room tower to the layout of the casino, you will find a surprise around every corner. You can literally just stroll through the resort and be delighted by the sights and sounds. Every detail has been well thought out and designed for the up-most in luxury and comfort.

Upon your arrival at Wynn Las Vegas from the Las Vegas Strip you will notice something distinctly different from Steve Wynn’s previous creations. There is no feature in front of the hotel, such as the pirate battle at Treasure Island, the fountains at Bellagio or the erupting volcano at The Mirage. No, you only see a beautifully groomed mountain covered in trees and flanked by a modest yet towering waterfall. Jetting up from behind the mountain is the modern, copper colored room tower. It is quite a unique sight, especially in Las Vegas.

The resort rooms at Wynn Las Vegas are second to none. Each comes furnished with a LCD high-definition television in the main room and the bathroom. You don’t have to sit on the bed to relax because each resort room is outfitted with a couch and ottoman within a sitting area. The beds are covered with Egyptian Cotton linens. And best of all the rooms have floor to ceiling windows making for spectacular views of the Las Vegas valley. The rooms are so luxurious you may find it hard to venture down to the casino.

Wynn Las Vegas has a fine dining experience awaiting each and every taste. Each of the 10 fine dining restaurants is overseen by a world renowned chef. If you have a liking for fresh seafood, Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare is for you. Chef Paul Bartolotta creates his Italian creations with seafood flown in daily from fish markets across Europe. If you prefer a delicious steak then SW Steakhouse should definitely be on your to-do list. This is an award winning steakhouse is situated along the Lake of Dreams and named after Steve Wynn himself. Those are just a small sampling of the fine dining experiences that await you at Wynn Las Vegas.

Entertainment is not in short supply at Wynn Las Vegas. The two theaters house two completely unique productions. Le Reve is presented in an intimate aqua theater in-the-round featuring amazing acrobatics and incredible special effects. The Grail Theater is the home to Spamalot, the Tony Award winning musical. A hilarious and crazy 90-minute production, Spamalot was created by those whacky guys from Monty Python.

After you have visited the casino you can take your winnings and go on a shopping excursion. No this isn’t your typical Las Vegas souvenir shop. This is real world-class shopping. Housed in the Wynn Las Vegas Promenade are a host of international designer boutiques; Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Jo Malone and Manolo Blahnik just to name a few.

There is so much more, but those are just a small selection of all the amenities Wynn Las Vegas offers it’s guests. Unparalleled luxury, beautiful surroundings, exceptional dining, world-class shopping and the best service in Las Vegas that is what Wynn Las Vegas strives to achieve. And they succeed on every level. Once you arrive and have forgotten about the world outside there really is no reason to leave, until it is that dreaded time to check-out. But I’d venture to say you won’t want to leave then either.

Are you thinking of taking up climbing as a sport? It can be an exhilarating and rewarding sport. Like most, you probably think that falling is the biggest danger especially if you’ve never climbed before. With all of the modern climbing equipment, falling is actually one of the least likely accidents. Falling is a risk but there are many other injuries that are more common. You should be aware of these risks and how to prevent them before you get involved in mountain or rock climbing.

Gravity is something that our bodies are used to in normal day-to-day living but when you climb you’re fighting gravity even harder. You use your fingers, hands, feet and limbs to fight the forces of gravity. To add to this, you are usually climbing in extreme temperatures and in jagged terrain.

Our bones are connected by thick tissues called ligaments. They’re not as elastic as our muscles so when they’re stretched and put under strain they can tear or come away from the bone. This type of injury is called collateral ligament strain and for climbers it is most typically in the fingers. It is caused by repeatedly pulling your body up with just a few fingers. Even mild cases result in pain in the fingers and limited function.

Tendons attach muscles to bones and are also not very elastic so they are prone to strain and damage. A medical condition called Lateral Epicondylitis afflicts many climbers in the forearm and elbow. Repetitive use of grabbing and pulling with the arms creates strain in these tendons and can lead to damage.

Physical injuries from continued strain are not the only common injuries. Debris and rocks can be loosened and fall on you and other climbers. There is also the threat of large scale hazards, including avalanches. They are most likely to occur in the changes of seasons from winter to spring. While this kind of danger is rare, you should be aware of the hazards.

As stated before, falls are not the most common occurrence for climbers but they can happen and proper precautions need to be taken. Falls are more likely when you are tired, dehydrated and exposed to extreme temperatures. In these situations your coordination is bad, your muscles are more fatigued and your judgement is poor.

Mountain and rock climbing can be an exhilarating and rewarding sport and make for a great outdoor vacation. Any sport has risks involved, though climbing risks can lead to more serious injuries. All of these risks should be considered before you take up climbing so you know how to avoid these injuries and dangers.

For many who live in areas that see a lot of snow in the wintertime, it is a time of year that they try to stay inside as much as possible and avoid the elements. However, what if the elements were not so cold? Just because it is winter in one region does not mean it is winter everywhere else! While your home may be frozen, there are plenty of places that are warm enough for a relaxing outdoor vacation.

One of the best vacations to take to escape the cold north is a cruising tour further south. Imagine – instead of shivering in your home, you could be seeing the wonders of Egypt in beautiful weather.

You could take advantage of a cruise that takes you all through this history-rich land, seeing Luxor and other cities along the Nile River. Some of the nearly weeklong cruises to this region offer tours to wonders such as the Temple of Luxor.

One of the more fun ways to see a region such as this would be on a smaller cruise vessel. Ships such as the Oberoi Shehrazad offer a quaint and personal experience. This ship only sleeps 80 travelers on vacation. Even though it is smaller than the mega cruise ships it does have some great features including a pool, a sun deck and a library.

Another nice outdoor vacation destination to escape the cold is in the Virgin Islands. With a dozen islands to experience along this cruising tour, you will never be at a loss for new things to see and new beaches to experience. While some cruises to this area are a little more expensive, many of them also offer some extras such as snorkeling or scuba dives at the reefs.

Again, if you want a special experience that is much more personal, you should consider a smaller ship. Those like the 66-passenger SV Flying Cloud can take you closer and into more secluded places than a larger cruise ship, and imagine sitting on the deck of that smaller, private ship while sipping a cocktail and watching the sun set on the water.

Had enough of the tropics? How about trying one of many vacations to the Orient? Available are week or longer trips through Ko Khai Nok, Phi Phi, and other islands of Thailand and Malaysia.

One of the smaller ships that travels this itinerary is the 170 passenger Star Flyer. It’s fancier than you would expect with two swimming pools, an Edwardian library, and decks made of teak

When it comes to being warm, it doesn’t get much warmer than the equator. If this is your cup of tea, you may want to take a trip to Ecuador. Here you can cruise the Amazon River, experiencing the kind of wildlife you see in a National Geographic magazine and getting up close and personal to the rainforest.

The important thing to remember is there is no reason to spend the winter shivering. Your escape from the ice, snow and cold is as easy as booking a cruise somewhere in warmer waters.

If you are looking for the perfect outdoor adventure, the Western Cape of South Africa is the greatest place to go on Earth. The unending landscape here is beautifully rugged, and the activities are extremely intense. The Western Cape of South Africa has it all: majestic mountains, two oceans, national parks, beaches that go all the way around the Western Cape, and historical sites where the world was changed forever. If you are a world traveler and love the challenge of conquering international terrain, make sure to pack plenty of energy, because a vacation in the Western Cape of South Africa is absolutely extreme.

The first place most travelers want to go to when they visit the Western Cape of South Africa is the beach. The unique aspect of the Western Cape is that it has two oceans. The Indian Ocean is the warmer of the two and best for swimming and sunbathing. However, Haut Bay, on the Atlantic side has incredible surf; and is home to the international Red Bull surfing competition. There is also hiking on the rugged coast and sunbathing on some of the most exclusive beaches in the world.

You can’t go to the Western Cape of South Africa without doing some whale watching. This pastime is highly pursued on the Atlantic Seaboard where whales go for shelter to mate and calve. This is a place where whale enthusiasts can watch Southern Right Whales, Bryde’s Whales, and the Humpback Whales that come here every year.

The Western Cape of South Africa is also the home of Table Mountain, whose massive peak rises 3,300 feet above Cape Town. Hiking fanatics can climb the trails all the way to the top, where they can experience breathtaking views of Cape Town and both oceans, along with the clouds that surround the summit.

If you need a breather after climbing Table Mountain on the West Cape of South Africa, the Garden Route has easy walking and beautiful scenery. Running parallel to the Atlantic Ocean, the Garden Route is a series of trails full of trees and flower gardens with explorable caves nearby.

Another favorite outdoor activity for tourists is the Wine Route, which is a little further inland from the coast. The wine business in the Western Cape of South Africa is booming, and there is no better way to experience it than to tour the historic wine estates in the valley.

On the Western Cape of South Africa, even shopping is extreme. Many shoppers can’t wait to go to the ‘Diamond Works’, one of the best places in the world to shop for exquisite diamond jewelry. There are hundreds of other unique shops throughout the cobble stone streets of Cape Town, including the famous Victor and Albert Waterfront; which has a variety of eateries, pubs, movie theaters, and aquariums.

The Western Cape of South Africa is easier to get to than you might think. There are direct international flights that go right into Cape Town, and once you get there the accommodations are world class. Clearly, for the outdoor enthusiast, the Western Cape of South Africa has it all.

My wife took care of her the entire time, and would like to get out of the house for a while. We have been thinking about taking a vacation – something adventurous outdoors like hiking in the Appalachians or seeing the Grand Canyon. Does anyone have any good ideas or could you share good experience(s) you had with your outdoor/adventure vacation(s)?

Rather than lengthy travel overseas or costly vacation rentals along a popular beach, you have decided to try an outdoor vacation. From the many choices of outdoor vacations available, from kayaking to authentic dude ranches, you have opted for a simple hike through a beautiful forest or wilderness. Depending on the location, you may simple get in the car and drive to a nearby state park or forest after which you will find yourself amidst beautiful scenery away from the nearby urban environment.

So, after a few hours you have been on the trail and decide to make your way back. You have several miles to go, but realize you have blisters. This can turn an enjoyable hike into misery.

Blisters result from the friction between your sock and skin and, therefore, the inside wall of your boot. The best hiking boots and socks can even allow for slippage of the foot inside the boot, that which can lead to potential for blisters caused by the painful friction.

A good pair of socks can help minimize this problem. Though cotton, silk and wool are some of the more common materials, hikers today have a variety of choices. When combined with traditional materials, Lycra and some polyester materials can do a good job as well.

Other features of socks are important to help reduce this slippage and friction also, and the new construction methods in socks are contribution much. For instance, thicker sections and a lack of ridges can help socks reduce the friction. Their thermal properties and moisture-wicking capabilities also help improve the general environment around the foot inside the boot.

Your selection of a proper, quality hiking boot can also contribute to minimizing the possibility of friction and, ultimately, blisters. Yes, many stiff hiking boots will loosen somewhat as you wear them, but it really is important to find a boot that fits right and is comfortable right away.

If you decide to remove your boots during the hike and slip them into a cold creek, be sure to dry your feet off completely before re-booting. Also, make sure there are no ridges on your sock and gravel inside the boot.

However, if you still feel a blister forming, remove your boot and use some water to rinse off the area. Disinfect the area with anti-bacterial cream or alcohol if you have it. Then, puncture it horizontally by using a clean, disinfected needle and squeeze out the fluid inside. Do not tear off or remove the skin, but rather place a bandage over the area to serve as an “artificial skin” until it heals.

Once at home, treat the area better with Benzoin or another anti-bacterial cream. Though not in ever case, you may need to cut away the flap of skin but only if a good portion of the skin has become loose. Otherwise, it will fall off or decay on its own.

As you see, selection of you hiking gear is important. Be prepared so you can enjoy the entire hike from beginning to end!

An outdoor vacation can be a far different experience than more self catering, traditional vacations. For instance, when visiting a coastal city there are probably many other travelers in vacation rentals or hotels whether in the local city district or lined along the beach. But, they are probably there to relax and have as much fun as possible. Hiking is a different story, though.

Those residing in urban environments often forget why decided to hike. They probably came to get away from the busy city life to enjoy some peace and quiet in beautiful scenery. To allow others to enjoy that, and enjoy it themselves, hikers should heed to a few general, common sense rules.

First, a long-standing rule among hikers is the “pack it in, pack it out” expression. Basically, the goal is to leave the area like you found it. Do you leave items you brought, including trash, water bottles or other items you may have with you. This is important to keep the area clean for other hikers as well as yourself in the future.

Fragile toilet paper can even take weeks to deteriorate, and possibly months. It is recommended that you bring a roll, but if you use it and are not able to find a container in which to dispose it, you should bury it. To “pack it out,” a small plastic bag can retain the odors until you are able to dispose of it in a container.

If you must urinate in the wilderness area, be sure to do so away from water sources and trails, at least at a distance of 100 meters. You should eliminate feces into a small hole far off the trail and cover it with dirt.

The peace and quiet of a hike is a significant part of the pleasure. Hiking trails are not purposed for the exciting things in a city that often bring about loud noises. When hiking, you should keep you voice and music low. Fortunately, with portable music devices today, loud music is not as much of a problem unless you insist on singing out your favorite song for all to hear.

If you are planning to set up a camp, use a Coleman or other portable stove to cook your food and set up in an open area. But, when you are finished, do not leave anything behind that won’t day within at least a day. You should do the same when you are fishing or partaking of other activities.

Of course, avoid wildlife as much as they seek to avoid you. Some, though, should be avoided with no question, including bears, skunks and mountain lions among others. Bears are not always gentle creatures. Though they typically avoid humans, this is not always the case as some have killed and eaten them. Take the same safe approach to large cats. They are predators, and you do not want to be their prey.

Generally, use common sense and be considerate of other hikers. This can ensure a pleasant hike for both you and other hikers enjoying the experience!
